Job Description
The MySQL Database engineer will be a key member of xxx production DBA team with responsibility of building the most efficient, reliable and low-cost database platform. The DBA will have the responsibility in providing, implementing and managing the best database infrastructure to meet the growing the business needs.
Responsibilities
Continually improve the MySQL database architecture on the area of HA, replication, monitoring
Lead the assigned projects by understanding the xxx application, applications interaction with databases and provide and implement MySQL based solutions if possible
Setting up new databases, monitoring, creating necessary database objects as required by the projects, SQL*Review etc
Take corrective action for operational problems with a goal of improving Continuous Operations excellence
Provide the database best practice design methodologies and continuously re-assessing the infrastructure for opportunities of optimization that would save infrastructure costs and or getting the best out of our technology assets
Setup the standard how to run MySQL on the site
Maintain MySQL binary release for XXX specific needs including developing specific MySQL feature and even xxx’s own storage engine
§ Lead research on MySQL and figure out how to push MySQL to its limits through careful design and tuning.
Lead the team to improve MySQL skills
Job Qualifications
5+ years of MySQL experience
Expert understanding of MySQL architecture and internals
§ Experience with InnoDB/Memory/MyISAM storage engines
§ Experience with MySQL replication, HA, clustering and monitoring
§ Experience with large MysQL rollout on key business applications
§ Strong C/C++ programming skills and ability to hack MySQL and even develop specific storage engine
§ Broad knowledge of common applications and technologies in Internet computing (web servers, app servers, database servers, load balancers etc)
§ Working expertise with at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, shell, etc.)
§ Ability to provide reliable technical support and guidance on routine site issues in a high velocity, dynamic environment
§ Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
§ Knowledge of Oracle, Postgres or other major DBMS architectures and internals is a big plus
§ Knowledge of NOSQL technologies like MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase is a big plus |
