Principal Software Engineer:  SAS Driver  

Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for developing the SAS driver for Data Domain’s new SAS infrastructure. Specific responsibilities will include:
-        Evaluate vendor technologies for SAS controllers.
-        Work with other software team members to define the architecture and design for a new SAS HBA driver.
-        Follow implementation through QA and Beta customer installations, ensuring quality software delivery.
-        Perform complete error analysis for all hardware components and make sure that all hardware errors are handled through the IO sub-system.

Requirements:
-        BS, MS or Ph.D. in CS/EE with at least 8+ years of software design & development
-        Solid knowledge in platform design, device drivers, and Linux OS kernel
-        Knowledge on I/O details (SAS, SATA, SCSI, FC,).
-        Experience in leading a project and driving it through development.
-        Ability to communicate with other development teams, QA team and customers.
-        Highly motivated, quick learner, and team player.

Backup and Recovery System (BRS) is a fast growing data storage division in EMC. This candidate will help maintain and troubleshoot critical components of EMC / Data Domain's data protection product suite.

Skill Requirements:

•        Must have experience with troubleshooting kernel level modules and debugging tools in a Unix/Linux environment
•        Experience with storage fault-tolerance and error recovery techniques such as RAID and multi-pathing and SCSI error handling
•        Proficiency in C, shell, and modern scripting languages
•        Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills

Prior experience: 6  years of experience in the computer industry in the field of systems software and I/O subsystems.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.

Job Responsibilities Include:

•        Maintain large and complex software modules that are part of Data Domain’s storage subsystem
•        Participate in all phases of the development cycle
•        Work with customer support staff to address and resolve customer problems
•        Develop tests to simulate failure conditions seen by end users and diagnostic tools to isolate errors
•        Interface with other functional areas such as Support, QA, hardware engineers and documentation writers

Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for the Fibre Channel and SCSI target drivers for Data Domain’s VTL infrastructure. Specific responsibilities will include:
-        Maintain and enhance target mode FC and SCSI drivers.
-        Perform complete error analysis for all failure scenarios and make sure that all errors are handled correctly in the VTL sub-system.
-        Follow implementation through QA and Beta customer installations, ensuring quality software delivery.

Requirements:
-        BS, MS or Ph.D. in CS/EE with at least 8+ years of software design & development
-        Solid knowledge in platform design, device drivers, and Linux OS kernel
-        Good knowledge of I/O details (PCI, SCSI, FC,).
-        Experience working with FC target mode drivers, preferably with QLogic HBAs.
-        Experience in leading a project and driving it through development.
-        Ability to communicate with other development teams, QA team and customers.
-        Highly motivated, quick learner, and team player.
