Static Variable

Hi All,

Need you guys advise urgently. Let's say I got an object where there is 1 static instance variable, which going to set and get by 2 static methods. Since static method is not required to instantiate the object before we can use so any possibility JVM will clear the value of the static instance variable when it's trigger the Garbage Collector? FYI, I'm using this static method in my struts action class. Kindly advise.

any way I can code a program and test it out? as I understand that GC will trigger by JVM itself and every JVMs will have their own way to trigger it. Besides, if I use this object in servlet, will it have the crossed-session issue? Kindly advise.

you can call System.gc() or Runtime.getRuntime().gc() to test.
but use static variables everywhere is not a good program habit.
