In the late 1990s, under Project Monterey, IBM and the Santa Cruz Operation planned to integrate AIX and UnixWare  into a single 32-bit/64-bit multiplatform UNIX with particular emphasis on running on Intel IA-64 (Itanium) architecture CPUs. A beta test version of AIX 5L for IA-64 systems was released, but according to documents released in SCO v. IBM lawsuit, less than forty licenses for the finished Monterey Unix were ever sold before the project was terminated in 2002.

    那是IBM虛晃一槍，在自己的新CPU還沒出來之前敷衍市場用的

沒戲，不過現(xiàn)在通過Linux For Power外加虛擬機，有朋友已經(jīng)模擬跑Windows小程序在IBM Power架構(gòu)，我都沒機會去實踐一把。

在rhel v5.4上試過IBM官網(wǎng)那個虛擬機，在make build_rootdisk那一步中，做到uncompress zisofs就一直卡著不動了
