Which shell most popular....

Hi all,

As i know bash shell should be most popular on linux.

But , which shell popular on Unix... Such as on Solaris and freebsd...

As i use freebsd for my hobby and Solaris for job, i want to learn to write shell scripts on both OS, it is not easy for me to choose which shell is better for both OS.

i have found that on Solaris, the people like choose ksh to work with shell scripts, on Freebsd, tcsh will be a lot people use...
someone just say use bash as he work on linux...

Any comment??

sometimes i must switch from a UNIX to another, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris, IRIX...  in order to avoid incompatibility, i use *ONLY* Bourne Shell for script, my favorite shell is bash and it's my login shell so far though.  i ALWAYS add this header in script,

#!/bin/sh

and IMHO, to use #!/usr/local/bin/bash or something like this,  is a bad idea, if u are not sticking only on a certain system.

But the function of Bourne Shell may be not strong enough to do something....

Also, what shell compatible with Bourne Shell ??
